About the Opportunity

An early-stage startup on a mission to make healthcare proactive is seeking its first internal Head of People to establish, run, and grow the People Operations/Human Resources function. This role blends strategy with execution and is critical to the organization’s ability to scale.

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead the People Operations function from the ground up by designing, implementing, and improving HR systems, policies, and programs that scale with growth.• Partner with the CEO and leadership team on organizational design, talent strategy, and culture.• Shape and sustain a strong remote-first culture fostering connection, engagement, performance, and belonging.• Manage the full employee lifecycle including onboarding, performance, compensation, benefits, and offboarding.• Collaborate with hiring managers and recruiters to attract and retain top talent.• Introduce frameworks for goal setting, feedback, and career development to enable effective management.• Build data-driven people processes and reporting to guide decision-making and measure impact.• Implement tools and infrastructure to strengthen operations and institutional memory.

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive HR/People Operations experience including leadership roles, ideally in high-growth or startup environments.• Proven experience establishing HR systems from scratch, covering benefits, policies, performance management, and career development frameworks.• Demonstrated ability to partner with executives and influence organizational change through data-driven insights.• Strong cultural leadership to preserve unique organizational qualities while introducing scalable structures.• Business-minded approach with the ability to demonstrate ROI on people investments.• Experience designing and scaling people programs in distributed, remote-first settings.• Approachable and empathetic with strong relationship-building and conflict-resolution skills.• Interest in operational excellence beyond HR, leveraging AI tools, workflows, and infrastructure for efficiency and knowledge retention.
