About the Opportunity:A nonprofit organization is seeking a detail-oriented operations professional to partner with the Chief Operating Officer and help keep the organization running smoothly. The role involves managing HR/benefits, payroll coordination, finance operations, and onboarding to allow leadership to focus on strategy and growth.
Responsibilities
• Serve as first-line support for internal questions about benefits, payroll, and HR policies• Coordinate with Paychex PEO, health insurance providers, and accountants to ensure accurate employee records, enrollments, and deductions• Maintain HR records and handle sensitive information with discretion• Manage end-to-end onboarding for new hires including systems access, accounts, HR/benefits setup, and paperwork• Prepare and set up documents for leadership review and signature• Support offboarding tasks including accounts, access, and documentation• Coordinate bill pay and accounts payable by collecting invoices and liaising with external accountants• Assist with assembling basic budgets and spreadsheets for grants and proposals for COO approval• Help prepare inputs for annual filings in collaboration with accountants• Maintain and improve operational processes to simplify and standardize workflows• Identify issues early and propose next steps for resolution• Collaborate across teams when operational issues affect multiple departments
Requirements
• 2 to 4+ years of full-time experience in operations, HR/people ops, benefits, payroll coordination, bookkeeping, or accounting• Strong attention to detail and consistent follow-through• Experience working with spreadsheets and basic reporting (cost tracking, benefits, invoices)• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal and external stakeholders• Ability to manage multiple small tasks in a fast-moving environment with minimal supervision• High discretion and judgment when handling confidential information• Honest, trustworthy, and reliable

Compensation
• Competitive salary in the range of $70,000 to $95,000, depending on experience and location
