About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Controller to join our team and take ownership of our financial operations. This hybrid role based in London E16 offers a unique opportunity for a qualified finance professional to influence the financial health and strategic direction of our organization. The successful candidate will serve as a key partner to senior leadership, ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and insightful reporting that supports data-driven decision-making. This pivotal position requires a hands-on approach, keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities within a fast-paced SME environment. The role offers a competitive salary of £60,000 plus quarterly bonuses, alongside a comprehensive benefits package including access to a company vehicle, health insurance, employee assistance programs, and potential share options.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a professional accounting qualification such as CIMA or ACA, demonstrating a strong technical foundation in finance. Experience working within small to medium-sized enterprises is essential, with a proven track record of managing end-to-end financial processes. Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to interpret complex financial data are critical. The candidate should be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills, capable of partnering effectively across departments and with external stakeholders. Prior experience with accounting software, particularly Xero, and a solid understanding of compliance requirements related to VAT, HMRC regulations, and statutory filings are also necessary.

Responsibilities

Own and manage the full payroll cycle, including PAYE, pensions, tax codes, statutory payments, and HMRC compliance to ensure accuracy and timeliness.Lead the month-end close process, including preparing journals, accruals, prepayments, and performing balance sheet reconciliations with precision.Produce and present comprehensive financial reports such as profit and loss statements, commission reports, campaign performance insights, and commercial commentary to support strategic decisions.Oversee cash flow forecasting and management, tracking inflows and outflows, managing receivables, and implementing effective credit control measures.Authorize all financial transactions including invoices, payments, consultant fees, referral bonuses, and partner/vendor settlements, ensuring compliance and accuracy.Maintain the integrity of financial data within Xero, ensuring all accounts and reconciliations are accurate and up-to-date.Lead financial discussions with senior stakeholders, providing expert advice and acting as the escalation point for complex financial issues.Drive continuous improvement initiatives through automation, process optimization, fraud detection, and GDPR compliance.Collaborate with external accountants on VAT submissions, annual returns, and statutory compliance requirements.Mentor and develop the Finance Executive and Accounts & Data team, fostering a high-performance culture and enhancing team capabilities.
