About The Role

The Senior Data Analyst at Capital One plays a pivotal role in transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive strategic business decisions. This remote position involves leveraging advanced analytic and technical skills to develop, maintain, and optimize data solutions across various domains. The role encompasses three core areas of focus: Innovation, Business Intelligence, and Data Management.

In the Innovation domain, the analyst will utilize open-source and digital technologies to mine diverse and voluminous data sources, building scalable data solutions and tools that enable self-service capabilities for data consumers. The candidate will demonstrate agility in exploring new technologies to support various initiatives. In Business Intelligence, the analyst partners with business units to translate needs into effective dashboards, metrics, and visualization tools that provide meaningful insights to inform business strategies. In Data Management, the focus is on ensuring data quality, security, and governance by collaborating with technical teams to implement best practices, monitor data health, and uphold data definitions and lineage.

This role requires a proactive individual with a strong quantitative background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data, a desire to innovate, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of data integrity and security.

Qualifications

Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline such as Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.Currently pursuing or possessing a Master’s Degree in a relevant quantitative field, with an expectation of completion by the start date.Minimum of 2 years of experience in data analytics or related roles.At least 1 year of experience working with scripting languages such as Python, R, Spark, or SQL.Experience utilizing business intelligence and data visualization tools.Proficiency in querying, analyzing, and working with data platforms and languages.Experience with data warehouses, unstructured data, and cloud services like Snowflake and AWS is preferred.Knowledge of data governance, data quality management, metadata, and lineage concepts.Experience working with process improvement methodologies such as Agile, Lean, or Six Sigma is a plus.

Responsibilities

Leverage open-source and digital technologies to mine and analyze complex data sources, supporting innovative data solutions.Design, develop, and maintain scalable data tools, dashboards, and self-service frameworks for data consumers.Partner with business teams to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions, including metrics, visualizations, and reports.Drive analysis to generate insights that influence business strategies and operational efficiencies.Ensure adherence to data quality standards by implementing metadata management, data lineage, and governance practices.Collaborate with technical teams to manage data security, access controls, and compliance requirements.Build and utilize tools to monitor data quality, report on data health, and support data governance initiatives.Explore and quickly adapt to new technologies to support varied initiatives and improve existing data processes.Participate in process management and continuous improvement efforts to optimize data workflows and methodologies.
